Hey everyone, it’s that time of the month again! Get cozy as we poorly explain some of our favorite events happening in and around Seattle this November.
November 1 - Science Slam @ Optimism Brewing
A computer scientist, a biologist, and a computer engineer walk into a bar… but this is no joke! Check out the Science Slam at Optimism Brewing, where the 3 scientists will explain their research projects in a short and easy-to-understand way. After the short talks, a winner will be determined by audience applause, then you get to leave with some intellectual talking points to annoy your coworkers with the next day.
November 2 - Weed School: Virginia Company
Class is in session! Come by after 4pm and meet the team from Virginia Company. Known for their clean and consistent aeroponic cannabis, this eastern Washington outfit is a favorite amongst our staff and customers alike. All Virginia Company products (buds and joints) will be 20% OFF ALL DAY!
November 3 - Tyler, the Creator @ Showbox SODO
One of the most controversial and influential artists of the modern era, Tyler the Creator is the sort of rapper you either love or hate (or just never heard of). Often dismissed by critics as a “horrorcore” rapper, fans of his latest albums can look forward to mellow rhythms about cars & self-discovery while older fans like Alex and I go wild for angst-fueled tracks about psychotherapy & violence. Don’t miss the fun at Showbox SODO!
November 5 - Pure Pies Tasting Event @ Heartbeet Organic Superfoods Cafe
Get high and get pie! Heartbeet— a nearby cafe specializing in organic superfoods— is holding a pie-tasting event! Each ticket includes 12 flavors of pie, and they’re all vegan and gluten-free (so April and Andrea can join in on the fun too)!
November 5 - Seahawks vs Redskins @ Centurylink Field
Our home team is playing the Washington Redskins at Centurylink Field! Stop by the shop and stock up on tailgate essentials before heading to the stadium or watching the game at home. Also worth mentioning: if you take umbrage with the name of Maryland’s NFL team, please note that there’s a protest happening at Centurylink Field before the game.
November 9 - Weed School: Fire Bros.
Class is in session! The pros at Fire Bros. have been cultivating potent and flavorful top shelf buds since the “medical only” days; stop by after 4pm to shake the hands that grew Lime Skunk and Ewok, then pick up Fire Bros. products (flower and prerolls) while they’re 20% OFF ALL DAY!
November 10 - Veterans Day
At this point in the article, we’d like to pause and take the time to thank our military veterans for their service. It takes a lot of bravery, dedication, and selflessness to protect our freedoms, and we appreciate your commitment to protecting our country. On behalf of everyone at Herbn Elements, thank you and have a happy Veterans Day!
November 11 - Lake City Pub Crawl
Our neighbors are hosting a pub crawl in support of North Helpline! Starting at Hellbent Brewing Company, the bar crawl will make its way to Elliot Bay Brewery, The Beer Authority, then end at Korochaka Tavern. Reserve your spot by Saturday, November 4th and get a free tshirt! This event supports North Helpline.
November 12 - HUMP! Film Festival
Presented by local sex advice columnist Dan Savage, HUMP! is an amateur pornography festival celebrating all body types and sexual orientations. Unlike those websites you look up in your incognito browser, these porn flicks have a focus on positivity and humor… but expect a couple of "gross out” moments as well. Bring a friend or two because HUMP! is a unique experience that’s more enjoyable with company (no pun intended).
November 15 - GWAR @ Showbox SODO
Known for their theatrics, costumes, and over-the-top performances that always leave their audiences soaked in fake blood (amongst other fake bodily fluids), metal legends GWAR are taking over Showbox SODO for an unforgettable evening of gore and satire!
November 16 - MOJO: An Evening of Big Band Modern Big Band Jazz
Finally, an event where our more mature smoke eaters can re-immerse themselves in the music of their youth while our younger customers spit bushwa about knowing their onions when it comes to jazz. Whatever your motivation, this evening of live music promises to be the bee’s knees, so brush up on your golden age slang, and butt yourself a jazz ciggy… otherwise stay home and mind your potatoes!
November 19 - Green Lake Gobble & Mashed Potato Munch Off
Wanna run 6.2 miles, eat mashed potatoes as quickly as possible, then wash it down with some beers? Yeah, me neither. But if you happen to have a masochistic friend who loves carbohydrates, be sure to tell them about the Green Lake Gobble! It's a Thanksgiving-themed 5k run/walk and 10k run/walk immediately followed by a mashed potato eating contest (plus a beer garden at the finish line). This event is in support of Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission and also includes a canned food drive.
November 22 - Far Out Films: Inception @ SIFF
Luke and I were talking the other day about the movie “Inception," sort of debating whether or not it’s actually a movie that people “get.” Yes, it’s visually breathtaking, and yes, there was probably an easier way to get that guy to sell his father’s company without implanting 7 layers worth of dreams in his mind, but does the movie actually make sense? Do people pretend they “get it” just to avoid the embarrassment of not fully understanding something so universally acclaimed? It’s hard to say. What we do know is that SIFF will be screening the film to a completely stoned audience, so if you have trouble following it this time, you have a built-in excuse.
November 23 - Thanksgiving
As you’re probably aware, we’re open every day from 8am to 11:45pm, but on this special day our shop will be closed so we can take time to give thanks and smoke danks. If you need a little something to stimulate your appetite and/or better tolerate your in-laws, stop by and visit us before turkey day. Happy Thanksgiving!
November 24 - Snowflake Lane @ The Bellevue Collection
You’ve waited patiently, my special snowflakes! The day after Thanksgiving is the absolute earliest acceptable date to start talking about Christmas, and around Seattle it's marked by the start of Snowflake Lane! Running through December 24th, Snowflake Lane is a holiday street performance featuring toy soldier drummers, animated snow characters, glittering lights, and falling snow. Performances are every night at 7pm at The Bellevue Collection.
November 30 - Weed School: Bondi Farm
Class is in session! Meet the folks from Bondi Farms and ask them any questions you have about their indoor grown flower! Bondi will be in after 4pm and all Bondi products (buds and prerolls) will be 20% OFF ALL DAY!
As usual, there are a million other amazing events happening in Seattle this month, but these are some of our favorites. Have a great Thanksgiving!
