Seattle Events: June 2018

June 1, 2018 @ 8:13AM

We've almost made it, Seattle! Summer officially begins June 21st (more like July 5th for us though), and the city is chock-full of fun events this month.

Friday, June 1 - Puddles Pity Party @ The Showbox

A recent contestant on America’s Got Talent, Puddles Pity Party is a perpetually-depressed clown who has gained an impressive social media following for his haunting, operatic covers of beloved pop & rock classics. It sounds bizarre, but you need to check this guy out if you haven’t already! Budtender Bree is planning to attend, hoping he’ll sing his killer cover of “Space Oddity.”

Saturday, June 2 - Perfectly Imperfect Seconds Sale @ Glassybaby SODO Warehouse

There are 4 things that Seattleites love above all else: coffee, weed, salmon, and Glassybaby. Those first 3 seem reasonable enough, but I’m honestly still perplexed as to why so many people I know are obsessed with these little glass cups. Like, I wanna meet the cult leader and/or marketing genius who built a lifestyle brand out of collecting $50 tea light holders (of which $5 goes to the company’s cryptically named “white light fund”). Anyway, Glassybaby is having a sale on products with minor imperfections, so tell any collectors you know to line up before 8am.

June 2, 9, and 10 - State Parks Free Days

Get out of the city and get some fresh air! The Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission is hosting not one, not two, but three State Park Free Days this month! Saturday June 2 is National Trails Day, Saturday June 9 is National Get Outdoors Day, Sunday June 10 is Fishing Day, and all 3 of these holidays entail free admittance to any Washington State Park (no Discover Pass required).

As a friendly reminder, you can’t legally smoke weed in a state park if you’re in public view, but you can totally toke up "within the confines of your own tent or RV,” according to Toni Droscher (a spokeswoman for the state parks commission). She also added that you can’t smoke, “in a state-park-owned yurt or cabin or platform tent,” so be respectful and make good choices out there!

Tuesday, June 5 - Sleep @ The Showbox

One of the most influential and celebrated “stoner rock” bands of all time, Sleep helped to lay the foundation for the doom metal genre, and they’re coming back to Seattle to play for their huge northwest fan base. Get your tickets soon, because this show is likely to sell out!

Thursday, June 7 - Weed School: Oleum Extracts @ Herbn Elements

Class is in session! The pros from Oleum Extracts will be in the shop to talk about their high-end honey crystal & sugar resin concentrates. All Oleum products will be 20% OFF ALL DAY, including their THCA Wizard Stones and Rocks & Sauce (limited supply)!

Thursday, June 7 - Lake City Farmers Market @ NE 125th & 28E

Sample and purchase local produce and other foods at the Lake City Farmer’s Market every Thursday starting June 7th. We’re unfortunately unable to sell our kind of produce at the Lake City Farmer’s Market, so stop by our shop just 3 minutes down the road for some fresh greens.

Friday, June 8 - Oh My Glob: An Adventure Time Drag Experience @ The Rendezvous

Cartoon fanatics can delight in a special drag performance inspired by the show Adventure Time, featuring SHE (a hilariously masculine drag queen with a full beard) as Lumpy Space Princess!

June 8-10 - Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show @ Tacoma Convention Center

I once attended a pinball convention back when I was young & innocent, and it was one of the highlights of my childhood. Now that I’m a grown ass man with a beard, I recognize that a massive room full of pinball machines set to “free play” would be just as fun if I’m in high spirts. If only it were in Seattle instead of Tacoma.

Saturday, June 9 - 3 Year Anniversary Party @ Hellbent Brewing

Our friends up the street at Hellbent are celebrating their 3-year anniversary with live music, food trucks, and lots of delicious beer! The fun starts at noon.

Saturday, June 9 - Georgetown Carnival

Work up a serious case of the munchies then head to Georgetown for some carnival fare! Perhaps consider visiting 9lb Hammer restaurant while you’re there (and be sure to try the Puffin Farm strain of the same name, if you haven’t already).

Friday, June 15 - Black Sabbitch @ El Corazon

An all-female Black Sabbath cover band. ‘Nuff said. That’s all the info we needed to be excited about this show.

Saturday, June 16 - Fremont Solstice Parade

Celebrate the start of summer by getting naked, letting your friends paint you, and biking through the streets of Fremont! The rest of Seattle will either be beside you, or cheering you on from the sidewalks as you feel the breeze blowing through your hair (or wherever). The parade ends at scenic Gasworks Park, a favorite smoke spot among locals.

Saturday, June 16 - Jurassic Park @ Seattle Outdoor Cinema

Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the original Jurassic Park, Seattle Outdoor Cinema is hosting a free screening! This will be a 21+ event, complete with food trucks and beer. Be sure to come and see us first for some cannabis products that can be used discreetly.

Saturday, June 17 - An Afternoon of Sun & Stone @ Volunteer Park

Come see what stoners do with stones! One of our greeters, Renee, will be displaying her stone sculptures at Volunteer Park with the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association from 12 to 4pm. Find them between the Conservatory and SAAM: families are welcome and picnics are encouraged.

Wednesday, June 20 - Stand Up For Pride @ Q Nightclub

Laugh for a good cause at Q Nightclub! The hilarious Fortune Feimster— who you may recognize from Netflix's Chelsea— will be performing with Jessica Kirson to raise funds for Seattle Pridefest.

Thursday, June 21 - Weed School: Creekside Cannabis @ Herbn Elements

Class is in session! Our friends from Creekside Cannabis will be in the shop from 4 to 7pm to talk about their high quality flower, concentrates, and prerolls. All Creekside products will be 20% OFF ALL DAY!

Sunday, June 24 - Seattle Pride Parade @ Downtown

Get a good brunch in and head downtown at 11am for Seattle Pride festivities! Show your support for your LGBTQ brothers & sisters as you cheer them on from the sidelines.

As part of our pride celebration, we’re partnering with Spot Seattle and selling pride-themed packages of chocolates (sativa, hybrid, and indica) and fruit chews (indica and sativa); Spot is donating $1 from each sale to Lifelong's Chicken Soup Brigade, a local organization that provides nourishing meals to those living with HIV/AIDS, poverty, and terminal illness. We’re also going to be matching their donation amount, so stop by and see us before Pride!

Thursday, June 28 - Weed School: Smoke Emporium @ Herbn Elements

Class is in session! Our friends from Smoke Emporium will be in the shop from 4 to 7pm to discuss the benefits of silicone paraphernalia. All PieceMaker and SiliNectar brand pipes will be 10% off all day!

Thursday, June 28 - Dr. Robin DiAngelo Discusses 'White Fragility’ @ Seattle Public Library

Educator Robin DiAngelo, originator of the phrase “white fragility,” will be discussing the reasons why it’s so hard for white people to talk about racism. I asked Budtender Ollie what he thinks the reason is, and he said something profound about how white people are [perhaps subconsciously] afraid to relinquish the status they’ve held for the last 300 years or so. Whatever the reason is, on behalf of brown people, we’d really appreciate it if y’all could just believe us when we say that racism exists (yes, even in Seattle). Consider attending this month's discussion on Islamaophobia in America too (June 4 in the Central District).

Friday, June 29 - Bug-lesque: An Insect SEXtravaganza @ The Rendezvous

Burlesque dancers are doing sexy dance routines inspired by insect mating rituals. Someone had to be high when they came up with that idea.

. . . . . . . . . .

Those are our favorite events happening this June, and we’ve got a few honorable mentions for you too...
