Seattle Events: August 2017

July 31, 2017 @ 7:07PM

Seattle is heating up this August, and like always, there’s no shortage of events going on in the city this month. We’ve curated a list of our favorite events that our customers might enjoy.

Wednesday, August 2 - Lungs & Witch Ripper @ Highline

Light one up then head over to Highline in Capitol Hill for some sludgy stoner metal vibes. Lungs is playing with local act Witch Ripper!

Friday, August 4 - Joe Rogan @ Paramount Theater

Love him or hate him, Joe Rogan always has a fresh & funny take on societal norms, and usually accompanies his observations with hilarious anecdotes about his many drug experiences. Take some edibles, make your way to the Paramount Theater, and get ready to laugh!

August 4, 11, 18, and 25 - Concerts at the Murual

KEXP is hosting a series of FREE, family-friendly outdoor concerts every Friday in August! Pack a picnic, round up some friends & family, and go to the Mural Amphitheater at Seattle Center (music starts at 5:30pm and goes till 8:30pm).

August 4, 5, & 6 - Seafair: Salmonfest Seattle

A part of Seafair, Salmon Fest is a 3-day street fair known for its salmon bake, car show, beer gardens, and local vendors. This Lake City event draws a larger crowd each year, so don’t wait too long to check it out. The Kids Parade is on August 5th at 6pm, and the Grand Performance Parade follows afterward at 7pm.

August 5 & 6 - Seafair: Jet Blast Bash

It’s Seafair! There’s no better vantage point to enjoy the precision moves of the Blue Angels than the Museum of Flight; as the staging area for the airshow, you’ll get to see the planes taking off and landing too. It’s SUPER loud and exhilarating (and hey, who doesn’t love a military uniform?)!

In addition to the Saturday and Sunday shows, they do test flights on the Thursday and Friday before (August 3 and 4). Another excellent spot to watch the air show is on the water of Lake Washington, so make friends with someone who has a boat!

Saturday, August 5 - Tater Tots & Beer Festival

Of course we would never encourage our customers to consume adult beverages when they’re under the influence of marijuana, but should you find yourself feeling toasted and in the neighborhood (Beacon Hill area), it’s gonna be tough the resist the call of salty, crispy potato-ey goodness with your choice of seasonings.

Saturday, August 5 - Tim & Eric 10 Year Anniversary Awesome Tour

One of our favorite Adult Swim stoner shows is coming to life; Don’t miss Tim & Eric live at the Moore Theater (cross your fingers for an extra special appearance by Dr. Steve Brule 🤞). Great job!

Sunday, August 6 - Purple Haze @ Nectar

The spirit of Jimi Hendrix lives on in Seattle! Purple Haze, a Hendrix tribute band, is playing at Nectar (Fremont) at 8:30pm. Yes, you can expect to see people playing guitars with their teeth, but no promises about guitars getting set on fire.

Saturday, August 12 - Slayer @ Wamu Theater

If you didn’t just fight the urge to growl “SLAYER!!!” at the top of your lungs, this might not be the event for you. Otherwise, seeing Tom Araya & Kerry King rock the house with Lamb of God and Behemoth is most every metalhead’s dream come true.

Do some neck stretches beforehand and get ready for a long and unforgettable night of headbanging 🤘

Saturday, August 12 - Ever So Android @ Tractor Tavern

Local rock duo Ever so Android is on tour again, performing their unique brand of electro-dance-rock at Tractor Tavern on a Saturday night. They put on an excellent show— so don’t miss out! Tickets are only $10.

Friday, August 18 - Mini Pinball Craft Night

You’d have to be high to spend your Friday night making one of those little “pinball” toys you get at a child’s birthday party.

August 18, 19, & 20 - Seattle Hempfest (26th Annual)

4/20 only comes once a year, but thankfully we have Hempfest! Fill your backpack with herb and prerolls (take advantage of our online pre-order system), then make your way to Myrtle Edwards park with some good buds! Per usual, there will be tons of delicious street food, music acts, vendor swag, and every type of paraphernalia you can think of. Pro tip: skip the huge line at the main entrance and go in through the no-wait line on 3rd Ave W (between Thomas and Harrison).

Please help keep Hempfest alive by making a $10 donation at the entrance; it’s not required, but Hempfest is great event that’s entirely put on by hard-working and passionate volunteers.

Monday, August 21 - Total Solar Eclipse

So the view from Seattle won’t be as stunning as it will be in Oregon, but if you step outside at 10:18am you ought to catch a partial solar eclipse that should be pretty cool. If you want the best view (known as the “path of totality,” which sounds like a great album name for a metal band), you’re gonna want to drive 6 hours and find a good spot just north or south of Salem, Oregon— but don’t bring Washington weed across the state border!

Wednesday, August 23 - Nudestock

Alright, so this event is actually happening in Issaquah, but it’s just too fascinating not to mention: Nudestock is an all-nude (but family friendly) concert happening at Tiger Mountain Nudist Park. If you’re feeling ballsy— pun intended— bring the crew, strip down, and enjoy the all day blues rock experience! They have a pool, sauna, and a volleyball court too. Bring a towel to sit on.

Saturday, August 26 - SODO Summer Session

The name caught our attention, but this event doesn’t have anything to do with cannabis 😉 It’s a brand new block party happening in SODO (South of Downtown, for the uninitiated) with the usual food trucks, local vendors, and live music. What makes this particular block party stand out— aside from being new— is the fact that they have a “drone area” and something called Roomba beer pong.

Whatever you end up doing this August, we hope you’ll visit us first and pick up some goodies to support your summer adventures!
